“All I wanted to do is playing Football, to get me out of this life…”

"With me I’ma make good music, be a man of my word, and live how I’m rapping. It’s a fine line between artistry and authenticity, and I just think that I just combine all of that, and everybody can’t do that. It definitely makes it difficult from a mainstream-radio standpoint, but I can care less. That’s only because these dudes have those machines behind them and those marketing dollars behind them to dress their fake shit up. But I’m not trying to fabricate nothing or dress nothing up to be something that it’s not."

[stellar scene] Freddie Gibbs x L.E.P Bogus Boys rocking LIVE to “In My Hood” Nothing like seeing my favorite Indiana representer and Chicagorillaz together. I have so much respect and support for both of these artists and believe they’re both going to be heavy hitters in the next few years. Shoutout to Dash over at @LEPBogusBoys, follow them! They’ve recently been linked to Dame and DD172 studios.

Freddie Gibbs and L.E.P. had Gary, IN and Chicago, IL on stage with them at The Wild Hare a while back to premiere their first ever collabo “In My Hood”, which will be featured on both L.E.P. and Freddie Gibbs upcoming mixtapes.

This collabo is only the first of many as they also recently laid down “Leather Kush”, which is sure to be a Midwest classic by the time it hits the streets.  It’s deeper than rap. You’ll be able to grab the mp3 for “In My Hood” this week on Freddie’s Str8 Killa No Filla mixtape. Filmed and edited by Brandon “N2ition” Riley and Nick Castle.

Remember Miami, this Friday July 30th at Eazy Street Gallery Freddie Gibbs will be making his South Florida debut alongside Reks, QuEST, Numonics and C9’s J.NiC$. You do not want to miss this event, it’s only the beginning of The New Miami movement!

Freddie Gibbs possesses the components to represent an essential population segment we’ve been missing in the genre for at least five years. Most notably, there’s no gimmick, there’s no angle- just substance. And the end result is a feasible and marketable, not forced, product.

This audiovisual is what got me to dig deeper into what Freddie Gibbs is about. Great track.
